2's company, 3's a crowd, and 200 is...
Just to continue on my probability and statistics theme of earlier, after writing the Birthday odds post below, I decided to randomly type the following into my browser's search engine, just to see what would come up: "One out of every 200 people"
The results were pretty interesting. For instance, according to the websites linked to, did you know that:
About one out of every 200 people is allergic to peanuts.
In the United States, about one out of every 200 people rides a wheelchair.
In 1766, only about one out of every 200 people could read.
On average, one out of every 200 people exposed to an online banner will click on it. (m_f ad department, take note!)
Only about one out of every 200 people who die leave estates large enough to be taxed.
And my personal favorite: about one out of every 200 people younger than 18 are affected by toenail fungus. By the way, according to the site, this "number increases to approximately 50% of people over age 70," something I'm definitely looking forward to.
