Today's map comes from Janet Loehrke and Jolie Lee of USA Today. They used Gallup data to try to determine which state has the most state pride. The numbers reflect the percentage of residents who say their state is "the very best or one of the best places to live."

Montana and Alaska top the list with 77%, followed by Utah (70%), Wyoming (69%), Texas (68%), and Hawaii (68%). On the other end of the spectrum are Rhode Island (18%), Illinois (19%), Mississippi (26%), Louisiana (27%), and Michigan (28%).

The Afternoon Map is a semi-regular feature in which we post maps and infographics. In the afternoon. Semi-regularly. Thanks to USA Today and Gallup for this one.
