T-Shirt Giveaway: Guess My Seat (Update)

Short and sweet:

Mangesh and I are about to hop on a plane to Birmingham. The first two readers to guess either of our seat numbers win free mental_floss t-shirts!

(And if you have any pull at Continental, we’d love an upgrade.)

Update:

It was dicey there for a while, but we arrived in one piece late last night. I’ve never aborted takeoff while speeding down the runway before. That was fun. But on to the winners. Mangesh and I were seated in the very last two seats, which on the not-very-popular Newark-to-Birmingham flight are 19b and 19c. The first to guess 19b was Jill; Steve knew 19c was a lucky number/letter combination. Congratulations! I’ll be in touch about your t-shirts.

  110. My hometown still has one of the most uninspiring skylines ever.

Even Nashville, where I live now, feels huge compared to it.

  111. 17D & 17E

  112. Winston, you think that’s bad? Look at Montgomery’s skyline. One building basically.

  113. Winston: You’re crazy! The Birmingham skyline is inspiring when you’re homesick! When I saw the picture, before I read the post, I said “Whoah! I can answer whatever they ask, I know everything about Birmingham!”

I really do miss the place sometimes. Chicago is tooooo huge, but I do like the skyline here better.

Interesting fact. The Birmingham grid isn’t true North/South. When the Bellsouth building was put up (the skyscraper to the far left in the picture), the architect to fit to a proper city grid, which is why it looks crooked.

  114. 28 E and 28 F

  115. Can a prize be given to #5 Greg who answered 56?
But only if he can answer upper or lower deck on that massive beast they fly to Birmingham.
