It’s time for another whimsical Tuesday Turnip search wherein I type a random phrase and we see what kind of interesting factoids “turn-up.”
Today I typed in “produced every day” unearthing the following curious tidbits:
Twenty-five hundred tons. That’s how much manure was produced every day by the 200,000 horses that moved people and goods around New York City in the late 19th century.
The amount of crude produced every day is only about 1 million barrels more than is absolutely needed.
In a man’s testes, 300 million sperm are produced every day.
In a normal, healthy body, cancer cells are produced every day; our immune systems prevent them from taking hold.
Since May 3, 1971 All Things Considered has been produced every day from NPR’s headquarters in Washington , D.C.
Globally, 33 million bullets are produced every day around the world.
340 million M+M’s are produced every day
In a city with a population of four million people, about 4000 tons of garbage is produced every day.
35 meters of hair fiber is produced every day on the average adult scalp.

What I’d love to know is how many M&M’s are eaten every day!

@ Just_say_no
… and bullets used. It’s sad that there’s only a 10-1 ratio of M&Ms to bullets manufactured.
David, keep the turnip going… I love this feature!

Love the turnip.
Grammar: 4000 tons (of garbage) ARE produced, just like 35 meters (of hair fiber) ARE produced.

The amount of garbage produced in a city could not possibly be the same around the globe and since the differences in habits, wealth and general consumption are so widely apart a mean or a median would be totally useless.
Fiction?

To echo Andrej, I hope that the “[GLOBAL] 33 million bullets” are produced “AROUND THE WORLD.”
Interesting turnip though!
