Well, Tom, as you know, I always have fun solving your clues, but hey, I write a Word Wrap every week for the _floss! So... anyone else?

We'll give out two books: one to Rosebud for FLOSS EACH DAY and one to Jack for stunning us with your succinct explanations! Mazel tov to both of you. This wasn't an easy one!

Jack da Bomb writes:

'Is that what you meant by “how you solved the cryptic clues”?'

Boy, is it ever! The explanations couldn't be more succinct--or correct. Congratulations.

I'll let David name the winner. Rosebud was first with the message, but JDB was first with the complete solution.

I had a good time writing the clues. Did anyone have a good time solving them? My fear is that these things are more fun creating than unwinding.

Ah, just saw rosebud. Still, I'll pound out the reasoning for 6E:

Guevara, man is "Che, sir." Said "chaser." And a chaser comes after a shot.

Each of the three letters words came pretty quickly. Groups A&B wentright away. 4 letter word for group C was tough, I don't think the second half is local in Minneapolis. Had to jump to the 6 letter word for C, then back into the 5 letter word from it.

Group E gave me the most difficulty, and I'm not sure my 6 letter word is correct.

My love for cryptics began with Games magazine, and The Enigma, the magazine of the National Puzzlers' League. Check out www.puzzlers.org for more info on the NPL.
