I had pinworms when I was little. It is absolutely horrible. You can actually feel the tiny little buggers wiggling around down there. AWFUL.

For those of you interested (possibly in torturing yourself further), there’s a really good documentary called ‘Eaten Alive’ that talks about human parasites.

Honestly, I’m surprised at how many people are so incredibly shocked and appalled by these parasites, especially when we take things like the flu viruses and the common colds and strep throat bacteria in stride. Those critters are parasites too, just a tad smaller, that’s all.

Man, these last few posts are gross!! Now I have to lie awake at night, thinking about all the reasons I could be slowly being eaten alive (while simultaneously thinking about being eaten alive, of course). Sigh. Thanks, mental_floss, for yet another random phobia.
