@Kevin, I was expecting to see Bartman here. I feel so bad for that guy being a huge Cubs fan and a little league coach, he obviously loves the game. Sucks that his name is still remembered for somthings so stupid. Sucks even more that he didn’t actually end up with that ball – some snakey lawyer did and sold it for a bundle. The only person happy about the monkey on Bartman’s back is Alex Gonzalez whose crappy play is forgotten.

A religious fanatic is a kind of fanatic who expresses his or her fanaticism through religion. If he were described as a “sign-holding fanatic”, I doubt picketers would be offended. It’s an adjective describing the details of the situation.

For those who still blame Steve Bartman, from a long-frustrated Cubs fan:

He did exactly what anyone else would have done in the same situation – try to catch a foul ball. That play did not kill the 2003 Cubs, no way. Feel free to blame Alex Gonzalez for letting an easy double play ball go through his legs, or Dusty for leaving in Prior after he was obviously done – those are the real culprits. But please, please get over Bartman.
