As we near the end of 2007, I’m re-posting a few fun posts from earlier in the year. Here’s one of my favorites from April.
Yesterday we introduced you to LOL Cats, today it’s time to dig deeper. It’s hard to create a firm timeline of how these images evolved, but it appears that one of these two images created a subgenre of LOL Cats, which I refer to as “Invisible” LOL Cats:

More “Invisible” LOL Cats after the jump.

Check out more “Invisible LOL Cats” at I Can Has Cheezburger. (Warning: a few images have potentially offensive text in them.) Tomorrow: yet more LOL Cats!
UPDATE: By popular demand, see the ultimate “Invisible” image: “Invisible Everything” (from I Can Has Cheezburger).
This article is part of a series. Read the rest:
Note: check out the original post for more comments.
When I read this original post, I had not been introduced to LOLCats yet. Now I am an addict. I check the Cheezburger site every day and have even submitted a few. Thanks for the new obsession.

I concur with the first response. Because of you guys, I am addicted to LOLcats (before it had just been Stuff On My Cat, Cats That Look Like Hitler and My Cat Hates You).
I totally love the Invisible LOLcats, as well as the “Nom Nom Nom” subgenre.

Any LOLcat that involves the word FAIL is a favorite.

Why are these so funny? I don’t want to laugh… but I do. I’ve seen SO many, but I can’t seem to get tired of it.
But why does it only work for cats? I’ve seen other animals get LOL’ed, and it just doesn’t have the same effect. What is it about cats that makes it so funny when they are manipulated like this?
