Regarding Maggie, the sportcasting monkey: in 1984 the British comic 2000ad published a story called "Portrait of a Politician" in which Dave, an Orang-Utan, became a celebrity the same way.
Having proven to be more accurate than the humans, he was then challenged to pick the result of the upcoming Mega-City One (New York) mayoral elections. He picked an image of himself, which had been inserted as a joke by the jealous sportscasters.
The joke was on them, as Dave was nominated and then elected by a public who recognised the human candidates for the wasters that they were.

Having seen the work done by our politicians, I'm wondering if we have any rules that say candidates have to be human.
As a scouser, I'm allergic to voting for anyone or anything called Maggie.

The motto “Where Have I Fallen, What Have I Done?” is actually quite an honorable one, if you think about it. It speaks of the death of a warrior in the first part, died in battle, and asks you to remember his deeds. While the warrior creed is mostly gone from our era, the motto still has relivance in the fact that where you finished your life in relation to what good you have accomplished in this world.

Stubby attained the rank of sergeant. Among other things, he warned the men in the trenches of incoming artillery shells since he could hear them before any human could. Not too shabby for a stray pit bull.

I was thinking the same thing... it's funny what we do to our animal heroes. They live a life of service to us, and then we either chop them up for pork, make them live in a zoo, or preserve them after they die. Not trying to rouse PETA or anything; I mean, it's not like the dog cared that he was preserved after death. But it still is kind of ironic, if that's the right word.

Also, what kind of a family motto is "Where Have I Fallen, What Have I Done?" Sounds Irish.
