What Happens When You Give 1000s of Stickers to 1000s of Kids?
by David K. Israel - January 3, 2012 - 5:13 PM

Last month, artist Yayoi Kusama turned an ordinary room in the Queensland Art Gallery into a giant canvas by painting everything white. Then, over the course of a couple weeks, children who visited the museum were given colored dot stickers and encouraged to transform the space into what you see in the photos below. The Obliteration Room is part of Kusama’s Look Now, See Forever exhibition that runs through March 12 at the Queensland Art Gallery in Australia. (via thisiscolossal.com)

  3. Genius, pure genius

  4. AWESOME! SIMPLY AWESOME!

  5. Seems a bit odd to me – we had a similar installation at our art gallery (Welington, NZ) – could have been the same artist -and I was informed that the artist was very particular with where each spot was placed. Did she change her style while touring….?

  6. How did stickers end up on the ceiling? Those are some tall kids! Yikes… very colorful, it assalted my eyballs/

  7. If you let your eyes go out of focus, you can see Elvis.

  8. Would be fun to see a time lapse video!

  9. Suddenly I want a slice of Wonder Bread.

  10. SO fun! I like the time laps video idea.

  11. @Jim in VA Beach- HA! or play Twister!

  12. @dianeygirl Yes, that, too!

  13. @chris. that is not elvis, but a kid playing the piano….

  14. I did that when I was a kid and wound up getting in trouble for it.

Of course, instead of stickers I was using white shoe polish.

  15. Marvelous! I love it.

  16. So, let me get this stratight. Thousands of kids were given stickers to slap all over a room painted completely white, and this is genius art? Got it.
