You forgot the most amazing of all. Jeff “Skunk” Baxter- guitarist for the Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan and several others- not only spoke to a songressional committee, he CHAIRS a Congressional Advisory board dealing with intercontinental missiles and missile defense. He is fascinating.

What about Casey Stengel, who testified about baseball’s protected monopoly status? He gave a long-winded an impenetrable speech about baseball that no one understood. After a pause, Mickey Mantle, who was sitting next to the Perfesser said, “I agree with Casey” to big laughs.

How about Dee Snyder? (along with Frank Zappa and John Denver).

I actually think Elmo is a good spokesperson for kids. It makes sense to me. For once Congress was LISTENING to a puppet rather than just being one.
