Actually, you're right. It didn't come up when I searched "mick jagger" (see search results here: query.nytimes.com/search/query?query=%22mick+jagger%22&d=&o=&v=&c=&n=10&dp=0&daterange=period&srcht=a&year1=1851&mon1=09&day1=18&year2=1980&mon2=12&day2=31&srchst=p&sort=oldest)

But when I searched "rolling stones," an article from three months earlier mentioned the Stones' arrival in NY:

"Another British singing group, this one a rock 'n' roll quintet called the Rolling Stones, arrived in New York by plane yesterday from London for a three-week singing tour of the United States and Canada."

The last paragraph lists the members of the band, Jagger included.

I'm still not sure why that didn't show up. Oh well. Good comment, though.

That hair article is the first time Mick Jagger was mentioned? Really?

The familiarity with which the writer refers to the Rolling Stones makes me think that maybe they'd covered the band before.

Or were you going for the first time he was quoted?

Either way, the article looks like it must be hilarious.
