I think Mary Astor suffered a lot to have been used by the ones we trust the most – our parents. It’s shocking to read all these scandals but its no wonder when you go into the details of their child hood, still I would say today the scandals are some what more extreme.

I’ve seen the Frances Farmer “This Is Your Life,” and you’re right; it’s devastating to watch.

I really doubt Farmer was schizophrenic. Maybe she was bi-polar.

But most of the women on this list were, simply, “uppity.”

Louise Brooks was another uppity woman — bright, articulate, beautiful — who was considered by Hollywood moguls to be incapable for Talkies.

In fact, she got that rap because — although she was promiscuous as hell — she refused to reduce herself to the casting couch of Harry Cohn, of Columbia Pictures.

Cool compilation of tragic “IT” girls from the past. I read every one of them! They make the dramatic lived-in-the-fishbowl lives of todays troubled loony divas seem tame in comparison. Some of the stories were very poignant. Good job.
