I'm not really into Romance Novels. Too sappy and mushy and not enough fighting.
Wuthering Heights is the only one I like so far, yet to read the other Bronte sisters.

Though, I wouldn't call WH a "love story" per se. That being said, I couldn't deny the passionate, brutal, all consuming, narcissistic and often cruel love between Catherine I and Heathcliff. Don't like either of them, they're both sociopaths/psychopaths, but that primal howl Heathcliff gave after Catherine died, not to mention that speech. Wow!

Edward is too perfect for me. And If any guy treated me like that, they'd be in jail!

If I were forced to choose my leading man in fiction, I'd go with Mr Darcy. Swoon alert!

So glad to see Gilbert Blythe included on this list. I do believe he was my first literary crush. I'm convinced that every girl who reads that series falls in love with him instantly and really wants to smack Anne upside the head for treating him so badly!

I'm coming on this late, but I agree with the addition of Atticus Finch in the comments; I crushed hard and still do on the movie version of him. I really liked Gilbert in the Anne of Green Gables movies. I saw a movie of Jane Eyre and thought the Mr. Rodchester in that was quite hot, but the book version was sexier. . I haven't read most of these books. I guess I should get started. :)

Someone mentioned Faramir from LOTR and I really must agree. When Pippin first sees him entering the white city and describes how the men look up to him and how he inspires them I swooned very painfully.

I kind of have this thing for Dorian Gray. Yes, he does become quite the villain, but I liked the dangerous vibe, to a degree. Murder might cause a slight rift. I always loved Marius in Les Miserables. Caspian is a definite. Edward is a complete NO. But for some completely unknown reason, my love will always stay with a certain Holden Caulfield. Yes, he is immature and whiny, but I fell in love when he said that all he wanted to do was keep kids from falling off of the "cliff." when you throw in all the symbolism, you have yourself a pretty cool guy. Maybe aftsome therapy and aging, he would be a good match. And I liked Zooey as well for his wit. He had quite the charm.

Kind of a new one, but what about Robbie Turner from Atonement? A little awkward, but brave and hopelessly devoted. Not to mention the library scene! James McAvoy isn't too hard on the eyes in the film version either...

My first literary crush was Christopher from The Perilous Gard. Awww, so noble, moody, guilt-ridden (yes, I adore men with issues too!), self-sacrificing...It may be the only book that made me cry out of happiness at the end. *sigh* Now where did I put my copy...
