I watched Dragnet, Adam-12 and Emergency growing up as a kid and liked them all. Watching them more recently, though, Adam-12 is the only one that holds up. Dragnet has some entertainment value but is is largely a propaganda piece for the LA Police Department. Emergency is bad because of the acting. Adam-12 has both good writing and good acting and is still a pleasure to watch today.

Love the post!
I watched Dragnet & Adam-12 quite a bit.
When Marty and Kent were on Laugh-In
they always cracked me up...they wrote skits for them to do in the patrol car...wish I could see some clips of those again!

I had those Matchbox trucks too, Roger. I used them in combination with a train set for train/car crashes where Roy and Johnny would come and save the day. I was five or six at the time, I think.

I wasn't as big a fan of the cartoon series "Emergency Plus Four." Remember that?

Great post again, Kara! There's also the Dragnet ep with Reed and Malloy doing cameos as patrol car officers - I think Adam 12 was already going at that point.

I had a Matchbox set of the vehicles from Emergency! when I was a kid...

There were also Adam 12/Emergency Cross Overs. One Emergency episode revolves around an Adam 12 episode that the Emergency crew miss due to calls.
