A Murderer went free. This is wrong. With DNA technology today somebody would have been EXECUTED! This was a crime of passion and extreme hatred. There is no excuse for this. The most simplistic scientific evidence today would have had a jury hanging a certain person before the judge in this case. With modern scientific evidence, it is beyond reason that any modern jury would allow anyone with the motives, circumstances, means, and 1890s evidence to let Lizzy Borden to go free. But back in those days, DNA was not known (the killer of Bob Crane is an example).

Did Lizzy Bordon give her mother 40 whacks? If she did, justice will never be served. Did she give her father 41? Only a higher being will judge this. Whoever committed this heinous crime will have undoubtedly faced a higher power for this unspeakable act.

Was Lizzy Borden the killer? Perhaps we may never know. But someone took that ax.

I actually stayed the night last Halloween (oooo spooky). It was pretty cool. The house is just like it was 105 years ago and we did hear a cat meow that, we later found out, had died about 30 years prior.
We stayed up until 3am playing "Most Haunted" and bore witness to some *ahem* off stuff.
I actually bought the book of the casefiles and read through them. I'm no lawyer, but with testimony given, I would put my hand to fire to say she was g-g-g-guilty!
Also, if you're wanting to stay the night, you get a really tasty 1902-style breakfast complete with hatchet cookies!

My last name is Borden. I have no idea whether I'm related or not (or to the Borden Dairy enterprise, for that matter). I've never been to Boston, but have always been interested in "Lizbeth's" story. I got some new (to me) info from this post. thanx!

Some time ago I clicked on the B&B's website from a link on another website. There was a story about Abby looking for her cat about two weeks before the murders. Lizzie told her, "It's downstairs." Abby went down to find the cat, decapitated, on a table.

Even if Lizzie didn't swing the axe, she must have been an accomplice.

When I saw that photo of Lizzie I thought, "She reminds me of someone." I realized it was an acquaintance of mine. The next time I saw the woman I tried not to stare at her too much (haha). I wondered if I should tell her, "You look like Lizzie Borden the axe murderer." I figured, No, that wouldn't be nice.(haha) I wonder if anyone else has noticed the resemblance.

My dad wanted to name me Elizabeth, but my mom wouldn't let him because whenever she heard the name Elizabeth or Lizzie, she thought of the rhyme "Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one."

I remember seeing a movie on TV about the murders. I think Elizabeth Montgomery played Lizzie Borden. It offered a theory that she committed the murders in the nude, then dumped the axe down the latrine.
