I love hearing about how genre-specific music has evolved in obscure areas. I know Malaysia a scene for lots of heavier genres of music (there was a great Oi! band called Hoodlum from Malaysia and I've heard some of their hardcore punk bands from the 80s that is at least as good as their US counterparts), but I didn't know how hard those kids had it.
