Photo Challenge #5: Pets!

nico_books.jpgIf you’re anything like me, you’ve got a huge stockpile of silly photos of your pet(s), and nowhere to showcase them. (You’ve got to admit, for someone who blogs every day, I’ve been pretty good about not constantly posting pictures of my cat.) Until now. (And it’s been building up, so look out.)

We want to see your funniest, silliest and — special bonus challenge — nerdiest pictures of your pet (or pets). Got a shot of them wearing glasses? Asleep on the New York Times or pawing through an issue of mental_floss? (My cat, for instance, is a total bookworm — see above — in that she worms her way behind our books so that she may better surveil us.) Email your pictures to us at flossypics (at) gmail (dot) com and we’ll blog the best of ‘em early next week! (Try to get them to us by Sunday night at the latest.)

Pets in especially unlikely places/positions are also great — witness, for instance, the feline pretzel:

We’d also love to see pets of unusual species. A friend of mine had a mountain lion growing up; as a teenager he got a monkey. Weird fish are also accepted, as long as they have awesome names. (When Higgins and I roomed together years ago, we had a big fancy goldfish. His name was Paul. Pictures exist.) Also, write a bit about your pet — just a few sentences — give us a funny story about them or tell us about a funny habit they have.

Because I have too many funny cat pictures to choose from, I’ll just append a few at the end here:

There’s something really Zen about sleeping cats …

  1. sweet, looks like there’s gonna be a kitty photo shoot at my house this weekend! :)

  2. Hey I actually sent you some but because they are on my photobucket and not my computer I sent them as photobucket links. is that ok?

  3. Darling kitty!
    Name/breed?

  4. I submitted a pic of my Cat Sears. He is part Maine Coone cat, 3 years old, 30 pounds, and no he is not overweight, just huge! The funniest part of him though is his personality….I swear he laughs when he thinks something is funny. He plays with my girls like a dog would, he follows me like a dog would, and he comes when called. He is a very affectionate cat, and when Sears wants attention he gets it…..his head is very solid and he will butt it against you until you give in! He is an amazing cat….So look for the laughing cat picture…if its accepted, that’s my cat! (well one of them anyways!)

  5. I admit it - I am in love with ICANHASCHEEZBURGER.COM!

    LOLcats rule!

  6. Your cat is soooo adorable! I just want to bury my face in his/her fur :)
