(Ahem.) Forgive my enthusiasm. But we loved the entries from this week’s pet photo challenge so much, we thought the best way to honor the six silliest kitty pictures was to LOL them … floss-style.
In case you’ve been living under a digital rock for the last few years, this is a LOLcat:
It’s a silly picture of a cat with a clever, if not grammatically correct, piece of dialogue appended to it. (Got it? Good. If not, here’s a great guide to LOLcat grammar — read it!) Now, let’s get down to business: check out the following six silly cat pictures sent in by our readers, and in the comments submit your best LOLcat captions for each one! You can enter as many times as you like. Be sure to number them 1 – 6, and if you don’t have captions for all of them, just be sure to number the ones you do caption appropriately so we know which ones you’re talking about!

If your trying to make a caption and arn’t spelling 1/3 of your words in pidgin, you’re not doing it right.
I will say Em is almost spot on for the flavor of lolcats.

Ransom – I’d recommend finding a relatively worksafe link to some more examples, or you’re going to have a comment section full of duds. This is a pretty small niche of internet humor compared to the mental_floss demographic, I’d think.

I take issue with the rules of this challenge. Maybe it’s because I’m not really a cat person, but in my mind if cats ever started spontaneously speaking, it wouldn’t be in adorable, early-lingual childspeak (as outlined by the LoLcat language link) but in impossibly patronizing British accents with absolutely perfect grammar. Or is the humor an ironic thing? (As in, “Look how funny! As if a cat would ever say anything grammatically incorrect!”) I will admit, I don’t get it.
