It seems unfair that Poynter was accused of disregarding architectural accuracy, since the structures depicted appear (to me, at least) to be quite detailed. Anachronistic and geographically impossible, maybe, but accurate as far as the structures themselves are concerned. I've also always enjoyed, for whatever reason, paintings of sculpture.
