Dr. Phil also has many cameos on Sesame Street through a running bit called "Dr. Phil and Dr. Feel" (where the former plays himself and the latter is a Muppet) where they have some sort of disagreement and then talk about their feelings regarding said disagreement.

Yes. The ever-expanding phenomenon of self-created, self-publicized “expertise’s” contains a paradoxical niche profession known as Motivational speakers
These people are mostly successful at selling books and giving lectures about success.

Lindsey,

Just to clarify. Dr. Phil gave up his license because he was about to lose it for violating ethical standards within his profession. It was only AFTER he lost his license that he began working on jury selection and then after meeting Oprah that he began work on Television.

I'm not a huge Dr. Phil fan, but I will say that he was, at one time, a licensed psychologist. He gave up his license in order to do what he currently does. Dr. Phil and his staff are very good about referring guests to practicing doctors.

I'd have to say that I'd pick Stuart Smalley over Matt Foley because he's good enough, he's smart enough and, doggone it, people like him!

Matt Foley has always been a big inspiration in my life. He is the classic example of setting goals very low and then failing to achieve them.
