Yesterday, the ‘Feel Art Again’ post discussed a young Thai artist, DuanPen. While all the facts in the post are true, I purposely left out one crucial detail:
DuanPen is an elephant.
April Fools to those of you who believed DuanPen was a human artist; points to those of you who figured it out.
To learn more about DuanPen and other elephant artists, or to buy elephant-created artwork, check out the Asian Elephant Art & Conservation Project.
‘Feel Art Again’ appears every Tuesday and Thursday.
I followed the link and found it hard to believe that the following was also made by an elephant:

Is all art on that website really made by elephants (only)?
I must note that I liked the paintings there very much.

septer: From the various articles I read, it appears that all the artwork is painted by elephants, though with some of the more complicated paintings, the elephants do receive some guidance. Also, the colors are selected by their handlers and/or art instructors. However, it’s still rather amazing that, even if they’re receiving directions, the elephants can accomplish such tasks with their tusks.

I just read this now… a little late for April Fool’s. But great job, Andréa! You educated us and fooled us at the same time.
