Many of you have joined the “I Read Mental Floss” Facebook Group. If you’re interested in taking your support to the next level, we just set up our own Facebook page. Right now, I’m our only fan. I’ve got to be honest, that looks pathetic.

Not much going on there yet. But we’ll be adding lots more photos and videos, launching a couple of applications, and obsessively checking to see if anyone’s paying attention. If you have a Facebook profile, give me some company by declaring your fanhood.

  1. I’m in!

  2. Yay! I’m so glad you guys did this! Now I can be a fan too!

  3. I started a discussion on the site … check it out, it might be fun. :-)

  4. I’m apparently in the (frequent internet user) minority who believe that sites like facebook and myspace are enablers of even more pointless egocentrism because they lower the bar of self promotion even further.

    That said, I am in fact a mental_floss fan…

The baseline objection to “social netowrking sites” notwithstanding I also think having a separate facebook page is just bad design. I mean come on, why not allow more user generated content onto this site than water down the brand by branching out like this?

If this is an outreach effort than it is bound to yield undesirable results. I fear it won’t be long before the comments sections are filled with the same idle minded chatter you find most everywhere else these days.

PS – Boy am I getting cranky in my mid twenties, hope I’m not fading out of the target demographic ;-)

  5. I’m your 568th fan!
