Oprah is worth billions… starting a school for a few hundred girls does not a philanthropist make. Tho she may give to other charities, she doesn’t even come close to giving what she could. In comparison, impoverished people give more than this woman. We need to stop putting celebrities on a God-like platform. Most of them are under educated and over paid. They are performers meant to entertain us, that is all.

I think Oprah was power tripping when she told her fans to boycot Hermes. If it was time for the store to close, the employee was just following the rules. I don’t get special treatment, why should Oprah? Of course I don’t know the whole story, perhaps the employee was overly rude, but still, get over it. Go the next day.

I think the whole Oprah/Uma thing was taken as an insult because Letterman was introducing two people with unusual names. Hence, their names became the joke. Was it a lame joke? Pretty much. Is Oprah too sensitive? Probably. Did she need to be taken down a peg? You be the judge.

Maybe I’m ignorant, and I’ll confess I’ve never watched Oprah in my life, but I still don’t understand from this article what was so offensive about the “Uma Oprah” thing. Is it because he assumed she needed to be introduced? Or am I missing something entirely?

I’ll be honest, Oprah kind of creeps me out. Her incredible power to sway the masses is kind of freaky. And I think she endorses weird stuff (c’mon, Dr. Phil???)

i will not buy a $6000 bag (that i can’t afford) just because Oprah tells me to.

she has chosen *some* good books though… “Middlesex” was a great read.
