Alexa is a company that provides information on the popularity of Web sites. While their rankings aren’t perfect, the “Alexa number” is a common metric when comparing things online. (The most popular site is #1. And so on.) Today’s quiz asks you to look at two sites and determine which has the higher Alexa number.
Take the Quiz: Internet Popularity Contest
[These rankings are for the three-month period ending Sunday, April 21.]
60%. I can’t believe that Pizza Hut is more popular than Dominos.

70% – a new personal best! Not bad, considering they were all educated guesses and that, until about three minutes ago, it never occurred to me that Vanilla Ice would even *have* a website.

Perhaps the quiz will turn you on to a few new sites. MC Hammer is all over the Clinton-Obama race.

90 percent!! Wikipedia over YouTube messed me up… I Wiki about 20 times a day, so I guess my personal bias ruined that one for me.

Firefox has an add-on that shows the Alexa number for the site you are viewing. I have mine up and running so I did very well on the quiz, as far as popular sites go. Lots of good guesses, got a 85%. BTW Mental floss is 10,779 now. It was less then 10,000 for a long time.

We’d better get more people to take this quiz so we can dip back into the quadruple-digits. Those were the days.

Hmm… I just clicked the ones that I visit more often (well, not that you’ll catch me skulking around PizzaHut.com or WeightWatchers.com), so I’m not sure if it’s a good or a bad thing that I got a 55%!

16/20
Not bad, I guess.

I scored 11/20 and received a score of 9/20, as I followed the directions and guessed which site has the higher number (thus the lower rank).

Yes, El Tigre! I was wondering if I was the only one who did that!! I got a score of 30% because I followed the instructions and guessed the one with the HIGHER Alexa number/lower rank. So really I guess 70% right. Lame!

I can see why you were confused, but I think people are getting a little nit picky. Besides, if your class rank was #4, and mine was #28, who would be ranked higher? You. If UNC is ranked #2, and NC State is ranked #16, who is ranked higher? UNC.
Then again, I interpreted the instructions correctly and still only got 6 right.
