I remember the Yul Brynner ad. It was one of the first that really jumped out and grabbed my attention. Even now years later, I still remember it clearly.

That Yul Brenner ad is touching. As a side note, i’ve been sober for 11 years and cigarette free for 6, and I have far FAR more smoking dreams than I ever have drinking dreams. I can always tell when I am really stressed–I smoke in my dreams. Nasty addiction.

The first time I ever heard the Indiana Jones theme, I thought of the Kent jingle. Glad to see there are a few others out there who recognized the theme.

Does anyone else remember the KENT cigarette jingle “to a smoker, it’s a KENT” that Williams definately ripped off to create the “Indiana Jones” theme?

Fred and Barney smoking Winston cigarettes is completely surreal. The cigarette pack looks far too large, and completely out of place, in the cartoon. Fred’s wife smoking a cigarette was even weirder. Goddamn.

I think the tobacco industry is still putting out television commercialsâ€¦

The Phillip Morris â€œWe Cardâ€ campaign is suppose to be part of a settlement agreement, but instead of producing commercials that tell you how bad cigarettes are, they say â€œHey, kids you need to wait till your older to have this kind of funâ€. This only makes teenagers more interested.

If you were trying to reduce teenage drinking you wouldnâ€™t make a commercial with a liquor store clerk saying â€œI cardâ€, and expect that to turn teenagers away from drinking.

Just one correction. I believe that it was the Surgeon General (not the Attorney General) who issued the report that cigarettes were bad for you.
