  1. I loved this movie from the first time I saw it but never fully understood it until I got a job in an office. Everything is true to life, including the %#*&ing copy machine.

  2. I’m almost positive it’s “Corporate Accounts Payable” and not “Corporate Counsels Payroll”

  3. As you know, I praise Mental Floss and your good work quite often. That said, here comes the hammer. How the hell did this quiz make it past the editors? It’s crap. The topic is a great idea, but the execution was poor, to very poor. The author would write out a big long passage and just change one word in the entire passage. So you had to read them each to figure out which word he was changing. Why not just ask how many times they moved that guy’s desk this past year? That was annoying.

  4. 4 out of 10 40%

  5. As well as echoing JE’s concerns, this quiz contained more than one piece of incorrect information. Besides the “Corporate accounts payable” one. I’m pretty sure that Milton’s squirrels are “married” not merry.

  6. No, the squirells were “merry,” Mike D.

  7. I thought it was fun. 6 out of 10.
Not a bad way to spend 5 minutes of my work day. In an office.
    Love that movie! :)

  8. 70%. The Milton questions were difficult. I would have liked to see a Michael Bolton quote (no talent ass clown).

  9. Only 50% dang it! It’s been too long since I’ve watched thw whole movie.

  10. 90%! I only missed the number of times Milton’s desk was moved. Awesome quiz!

  11. 80%. Missed both Milton ones. Possibly because they were very long to read through. I’ve got work to do, you know. Ha.

I even work at a bank software company. The cubicles in the office are nicer though.

  12. This is great! I just pulled out the old jump to a conclusion mat line this morning. Unfortunately the humor was lost because the fella was a bit older and had never seen the movie.

  13. Watch the DVD special features, Amanda. The squirrels were indeed “married”.

7 out of 10 by the way.

  14. 80%! I only got wrong the secretary names ones… darn it, Nina and Sandra! My friend’s uncle is Stephen Root, the actor who plays Milton. Needless to say it’s a definite hit among my friends.

And the squirrels, they definitely were merry.

  15. I agree with JE- maybe just a simple questions with one or two word answers.

    The squirrels were “merry”.

I got 100%. I’ve seen this movie waaaaaay too many times.

  16. I still believe the quirrels were merry. JE is right – I was thrilled to see this quiz and disappointed in how these questions were asked. Friday Lunchtime Quizzes shouldn’t be this much work!

8 of 10. Funny thing is, I just watched this movie again two days ago. I also missed the two Milton questions.

Here’s a question – What product does Steve sell door-to-door? (Answer this correctly, and ask a question of your own…)

  17. WOW. tough crowd tonight. thanks for the feedback ya’ll. guess i won’t be doing any script excerpts again.

  18. 5/10.

Ironically, the company I work for used to have a “TPS Report” of its own, but its no longer used.

if anyone is interested in another Office Space quiz, google: “office space quiz” and go to red swingline stapler

  19. I got 8 out of 10. Yyyyeah, I think I’m going to have to go home and watch that movie again.

  20. 9 out of 10, boooyah!

I always thought that the squirrels were married…because I can imagine him making up a little squirrel life for them.

  21. Mike D and Julie are right about the squirrels. On the DVD features, Stephen Root says that the squirrels are married. He says he came up with the line, and that to him it represents the core of Milton’s character – that the only way Milton could describe two squirrels having sex is to say they were married.

Also, I’m pretty sure #9 is wrong. Isn’t it “chicks dig dudes with money”?

I hope so. I got 90%, and #9 is the only question I missed.

I need to find a new movie.

  22. 100%, y’all! I also live in Austin where most of it was filmed, and shortly after seeing this movie worked at both TGI Friday’s and an insurance office *at the same time* so this movie is a favorite. And it comes on Comedy Central about 5 times per week.

  23. p.s. people asked about flair A LOT when I worked at Friday’s, even though this was after it was abolished and the uniforms changed (probably because of Office Space). It took forever to explain to some jackasses that we don’t have flair anymore. No, really.

  24. Listen to the commentary on the DVD, people: The squirrels are “married” which Mike Judge says is Milton’s euphemism for the fact that they were having sex!

I got 90%; dang that Nina!

TomH: He was selling magazines to help recovering crack addicts. :P

New trivia: How does Peter first interest Johanna in coming home with him?

    Love this movie!

  25. frodopal …then I thought we go to my place and watch “Kung Fu” – Do you like “Kung Fu?”

New Q: In which restaurant does that ‘first date’ conversation occur?

Knowing the squirrels are MARRIED blows my mind. Thanks for another reason to watch this for the 40th time.

  26. 90% I can’t believe there are people out there that don’t love this movie. Although one of the people I know who doesn’t like this movie has been a housewife for most of her life so . . .yeah.

They went to Flingers for their first date.

Next question: How many bosses does Peter have?

  27. TomH: the convo occurs in Flinger’s, next to Johanna’s workplace Chotchkie’s (or however you spell it).

New Q: In Peter’s nightmare, what is Bill Lumbergh holding in his hand when he’s having sex with Johanna?

90% for me :) Lovelovelove this movie, even though I work in a title insurance office and it is nothing like the office in the movie.

  28. Eight bosses, Bob. And Jess, he’s got Anniston’s ankle in one hand, and a coffee cup in the other. MMYeah, that’s greaaat…

How about: The director, Mike Judge, appears as WHAT character?
