Back in the day, he was “The Bat-Man” and then “The Batman.” The latter was used not too long ago as an animated series title.

In the first stories, Batman was indeed called “The Bat-Man.” It wasn’t until after Robin’s introduction that the definitive article and hyphen were dropped.

Okay, I was with you until number three…then I about came unglued…disturbingly so.

It’s not “the Batman”, it’s just “Batman” Just like it’s “spiderman”, not “The spiderman” (despite what that stupid cartoon song says…)

How are you confused by the metaphor “stronger than a locomotive”? Can you think of anything back in the 1930′s that was more powerful than a train? It can pull hundreds of tons for miles up and over mountains. Think about it…
