Unfortunately, I grew up in the 70's - the age of 10+ minute fluoride treatments that were either cherry or grape flavored.

To this day, I cannot stand cherries or anything remotely tasting or smelling like cherries!

After reading this article, I went out and bought cherries at this store. I then had to try eating them without thinking about Johnny Cat's comment...

The Spoonbridge and Cherry--a super popular wedding and prom photo background here in MPLS.

I once made a cherry pie from cherries picked by my mom and pitted by my grandma. It was fantastic.

Julia, I'm jealous. Ranier cherries are the best, but I live in the southeast and they're about $8. a pound, if you can even find them. The best recipe is Black Forest Cherry Cake: 2 layers of chocolate cake soaked with Kirsch(cherry brandy), topped with cherries macerated in Kirsch, topped with whipped cream. Yummy!

Julia - I whole-heartedly agree! Rainier cherries are freaking awesome.

I love to eat cherries, either by themselves or in pies. I also like putting dried cherries in salads.

Growing up, we had a huge cherry tree that my friends and I would climb, and one summer day we filled a brown grocery bag with luscious dark cherries. We were devouring them wholeheartedly, about halfway through the bag, when I decided to split one open and have a look inside. I saw a tiny white worm-thing squirming around. We opened every last cherry and found one or two worm-things in each one.

Scarred for life, I can't eat cherries anymore. :(

The best cherries in the world are definitely the Rainier Cherries of the Pacific Northwest. In Seattle, we eat them by the pounds when they're in season.
