The Noid was mentioned in an episode of “The Simpsons” as well… Marge Simpson pointed at the Noid walking in a parade, I believe, and told her kids to “avoid the Noid! He ruins pizzas!”

As a bicyclist with a weird sense of humor, I used to ride with a small stuffed Noid doll in one of the rear pockets of my jersey, peeking out at anybody who would come up behind me. One year I did a cancer society bikeathon, carrying my little passenger like that, and the TV news crew sent to cover the event filmed me from behind as I was riding, and later interviewed me on camera.

I still miss the Noid……

Snap, sorry, Chris, I just noticed your “note” above about the inspiration for your post. That’s why the Noid thing was so familiar. Sad that living in proximity to the Domino’s hostage crisis is my lame claim to fame.

Weird, I mentioned the Noid hostage situation in the comments section a couple months ago. We used to live down the street from that Domino’s when I was a kid. We weren’t supposed to leave the house, it was all over the news. Crazy, but that’s how I learned what the word “hostage” meant. Avoid the Noid, indeed.
