Lesson learned: if someone launches into violent attacks, throwing monitors into women’s faces and whatnot, you should immediately tackle him and restrain his sorry ass; not stand around and see what he does next.

One of the best sentences ever is in the piece on the uncontacted tribe.

“In response to the photos, an umbrella group of native rights organizations in South America called CIPIACI on May 30 asked Peruvian authorities to stop native displacement, which it said is caused largely by illegal logging and evangelists.”

I love that evangelists are listed right alongside loggers as perpetrators of displacement.

My son has neurofibromatosis, though not to that extreme. Thank goodness for free health care (I’m in Canada) because his bills rack up to about $30,000/year!

Regarding the “pig” case, I did a quick check (yes, I’m procrastinating), and the man was arrested for disorderly conduct after a “confrontation” with officers. He apparently also called them much worse things than “pig.” But the sentencing judge thought this would be humbling experience for him.
