Congratulations! You’ve landed on the super secret subscription special.
(that’s 50% off the newsstand price, and 17% off any other rate out there.). And because we rarely (RARELY) discount the mag, this post is just for friends and sleuth-y blog reader types. Of course, if you’re someone who loves magazines, and a good deal, we’re happy to accommodate you too! Just click here to order today. More about the magazine below.

mental_floss is an award-winning magazine (seriously, our shelves are sagging with trophies) dedicated to delivering a complete liberal arts education in bi-monthly installments. Newsweek calls it “A smart (-alecky) read.” The Washington Post calls it “delightfully eccentric and eclectic.” And it’s been praised everywhere from the LA Times to the Wall Street Journal.
But rather than giving you a page full of quotes, how about we highlight a few of our favorite cover stories. This year we’ve tackled How to Get into Heaven (a travel guide for the afterlives of various religions), The Future of Sex (the strange and incredible ways technology has invaded the womb), Secret Lives of Presidents (who knew that Nixon proposed to his wife on their first date, then drove her around on dates with other people for the next few years?). And all that’s coupled with fascinating science stories, incredible bios, evocative arts features, and a spinning the globe section that’s chock full of lush photos and vivid travel stories.
mental_floss has been called “a fix for knowledge junkies”, “a feast for hungry minds”, “one of the smartest purchases you could ever make” and “the most important magazine of our time.” Those are things we say about it, but other people have said lots of other nice things too.

Sweet! Too bad I have the subscription all ready. :(

If we already have a subscription can we renew in advance?

Everyone who reads this should get a subscription! The mag is awesome. I travel for work frequently and I’ll actually save the magazine for my trips so I’m guaranteed to have something good to read on the plane (although it takes a lot of discipline not to read them as soon as I get them!)

This magazine is amazing. Amber, I actually did the same thing on my last trip! I saved an issue for a week long trip but ended up reading it all on the plane ride. Oh well. It’s very hard to keep from sitting down and reading an issue cover to cover the day I get it. If you don’t already have a subscription, get one, pronto.

This is the neatest magazine on the planet! If you like interesting (and often times weird) science, art, and historical stories, you can’t go wrong with mental_floss (IMHO The Top 10 List issue alone is worth the price!)
I read a lot of magazines, but I only keep my mental_floss copies. In fact, I have a shelf dedicated to it!
Definitely worth every penny.

Sweet! That might be the thing to get me off dead center and finally subscribe!
By the way, our pastor brought up your magazine (in a very positive reference, by the way) in his sermon yesterday. He’s a subscriber, and for him and his family it’s a race to get a new issue from the mailbox first. Here’s a link to the audio, if you’re interested:

This is a great deal! I have been reading Mental Floss since its third or fourth issue, and it has really evolved into a smart publication. It’s not just trivia - it’s history, literature, art, science, culture and more. Once you get hooked on the magazine, check out the board game. It’s a lot like Trivial Pursuit but a lot more interesting… and I don’t get burnt out from not knowing the answers either. They are challenging but reasonable - stuff you need to know.

I’ve been reading the blog for a while but I finally picked up a copy of the magazine at Barnes and Noble a few months ago and I’m hooked! It’s the most interesting magazine I’ve seen in a long time.

Great deal for a great magazine. I already have a subscription, but I know I have some friends who would like the magazine. They always seem to be taking my copy.

I just love mental floss, I have learned so many things and I can wait to read the magazine until I have time to read and it is still “news-worthy.”

Hey,
What about us loyal Canadians - not only is the mag way more expensive but with the new t-shirt and shipping rates I just paid $10 extra for the same shirt I bought a month ago! Yikes!
Considering our dollars are virtually the same I would have thought we would get a better deal (obviously not including the shipping differences)!

Thanks for your question, Katie. You’ll be happy to hear we’re working on including Canadian subscriptions in the discount offer as well. Hang in there, Canada. Your discount is coming very soon!

What a great deal. I challenge anyone to find a more interesting or entertaining magazine. I’ve been reading this magazine since its early beginnings, and not only has my IQ risen by 33 points, but my skin is clearer, my teeth are whiter, and my hair is much bouncier.
