Dogs: Spud, Dragonclaw (we often called him “Draggie”), Cola, Winston, Buckley, Stewie, Argent (French for silver), Biff, Wrinkle-Face, Bat

Cats: My cat is Mona T. Cat, which we either shorten to Mona T. or Baby Girl. Growing up we had Friskies, Chai, Polo, E.T. (like the alien), and Bone.

My best friend named her cat Severus Snape years before we learned his true motivations. The cat’s kind of a jerk, which is appropriate somehow.

My parents had a cat named Finito. Mom had a habit of feeding stray cats, and they already had three when she started feeding that one. Dad put his foot down, said “no more, this one’s going to the shelter.” He put it in a basket with a lid, bungee corded the lid down, and put it in the back seat of the car. He wasn’t even all the way out of the driveway when the cat had gotten halfway out of the basket and was stuck there. Poor thing was yowling his head off. So Dad pulled back into the driveway, said “ok, we can keep it. But this is the last one!!” – hence Finito. They had four more cats after that.

Had a fat grey (or is it blue?) tom named Ganja (this was just after college) but told my parents and little brother his name was Gandalf the Gray (which he answered to as well).

Later adopted two kittens, a brother and sister who tottered out of a burning brush pile, 5-6 weeks old at most. Named the male Ash and the female Ember, then found out a few months later that Ashes was the female and Ember was the male.
[On a poignant note, Ember's front left leg was amputated last year after having been caught in a snare for the better part of 3 days. He's made a full recovery, and he's happy and fat at my parents' house.]

I’ve had an iguana named Iggy and a cockatiel named Alice [Cooper, btw], and currently have an iguana named Rocko, a corn snake named Mojo, a pit bull named Bailey after the color of the bottle of liqueur that his coat resembles.

My brother moved to Hawaii, bought a dog, and named her Bikini. We call her Kini for short, but it’s fun taking her to the beach and yelling, “Bikini! Get over here!”

We have 2 cats and a dog. Formally their names are Figaro and Dottie (the cats) and Abby Normal (the dog – i.e. Abnormal brain, see classic Mel Brooks movie Young Frankenstein). They go by many nicknames, including: figgy wiggy fu manchu (due to a huge single white eyebrow tuft), figgalicious (like fergie), figgaroni and cheese (he likes pizza), snottie dottie, fatty mcfattenheimer, fatty mcghee (because she wheezes like the infamous SNL character), absterdam, and abba dabba doo.

My sister wanted to name her kitten Turkey, so that she could call around the neighborhood for it but her jerk ex-boyfriend wouldn’t let her so she named him Tucker instead. Her next cat she swears will be named Sushi.

my pets have always had pretty normal names, boots, sadie, taz… if i get another cat we’ve been tossing around the idea of naming it “mike hawk” or “mike hunt.” however the thought of the kids running around saying that “mike hawk is so sweet! i love to cuddle with it!” was too much for the more religious grandmas. so i’m actually leaning towards “ouch, my face” or “baron von bad-then-good-then-bad-again” from the angry beavers.

i have a friend that has/had a cat named “war beast,” she gave birth to “dryer lint.”
