The ocean is so vast and so generally dangerous and so many people have flown over/ridden on it that I have heard you can take any triangle of the same size, just about anywhere in the ocean and find that a crazy number of incidents have occurred in the space you mapped out. tho not sure bout the compasses going nuts and stuff like that

I once read that Christopher Columbus experienced strange phenomena (bezerk compass, illuminating water) while passing through the Triangle on his expedition across the Atlantic in 1492.

Has anyone else come across that fact?

number 8, the carroll a. deering, sounds more like a victim of the Graveyard of the Atlantic. the coast of north carolina (and bits of virginia and south carolina) is notorious for shallow water and shifting sand. if the ship was close enough to be spotted near NC and washed up at Hatteras I'd say it was the Graveyard and not the Triangle. still just as mysterious.

what about those air force planes that disappeared in the 1940's? I think 4 went out on a routine fly-by and never came back. or something like that.

Have you notices that none of these incidents are recent? I think the most recent one is in 1963. I wonder if that has somehting to do with increased GPS technology where ships/planes dont go "missing" anymore. Although I have to admit that the idea of the Bermuda Triangle is fascinating...

Pick any busy portion of the oceans and you'll easily find any number of "mysterious" incidents.
