AUUUGH.

Dada art! BAH. I do admit that the Valley Curtain appeals to me, though.

And don't get me wrong, I adore the art scene. I'm not very talented myself, but I'm a regular at art shows, and I really enjoy well-constructed thought provoking pieces. I think the reason that the Dada movement frustrates me is because it is completely devoid of thought. Dada is characterized by "What can I get away with?" rather than, "What profound, beautiful and dignified statement can I make with my talent?"

The best art captures beauty and dignity and evokes an emotional response, even if it is graphic. There is none of that in the Dada art I've seen just shock value. It's like classing "Who Let the Dogs Out" with the Magic Flute and saying "They're both music!"

Oh... I got a 100% too! The part on the monkey art was so cool... Just goes to show that people can read significance into totally random acts.

And I am sorry to say, but Mr. Duchamp´s "art" is not very interesting. I cannot believe that someone would actually say that something is art because he CHOSE it... And what new thought did he create for the urinal? It´s still just a urinal.

I was surprised by how easy that quiz was. 100%, and I'm no art student.

I first heard about both Duchamp and Christo and Jeanne-Claude this year in an epistemology course. It's interesting stuff. Duchamp also named a snow shovel something like "Prelude to a broken arm." and called it (readymade) art. I read an article about the exibit Christo and Jeanne-Claude did in Central Park - orange flags/curtains over the walkway every few feet (costing $20 million, out of their own pockets).
I don't tend to worry about what justifies art and whether something is or not, but I think stuff like this is kind of interesting. It's definitely a different perspective.

Wow - even I got 100%, and I think most modern "art" is crap.

Seriously - a urinal? Oy!

That quiz was too easy. I got 100%. Or, maybe it's because I go to an art school and can think like those weird artists. Who knows.

I rather like the valley curtain. It's such an odd thing to put out there, it's surreal.

Speaking of surreal, my Captcha is Mr highlights.
