As as kid, he had no middle name and was simply Frank (last name), Jr. (Also, just Frank, not Francis). The US Army didn&#039;t take kindly to having a blank space where they wanted a middle name, so my grandfather took the Jr. off his name and made &#039;J&#039; his middle initial, but it never stood for anything.
