Now Available: mental_floss magazine digital subscriptions!
by Mangesh & Jason - June 11, 2008 - 2:14 PM

We’ve been waiting a long time to use that ‘Breaking News’ bar.

Here it is—we’ve partnered with a company called Zinio to offer a digital version of mental_floss magazine. A digital subscription gets you everything that’s in the print magazine—the same great content and design delivered right to your desktop. This is perfect for people who live outside the United States, since no extra postage is required. And it’s great for people living inside the United States who don’t trust their mailman.

Here are just a few of the benefits…

• Get your issues before they hit the newsstand, then read them anytime—even offline. No more trips to your local newsstand or days spent waiting at your snail-mailbox.
• Easy navigation
• Search keywords in seconds plus quick hot links to specific content
• Paperless archives—keep back issues on your computer for fast reference and easy storage

  1. Questions:

    1) Do print product subscribers get automatic access to the digital version? Or is the digital product a totally separate subscription?

    2) Why the same subscription price for the digital as the print product? I would think that since you’re saving costs on printing paper and mailing that the digital would be a tad cheaper.

    Thank you.

  2. Jason,

No, the digital edition is a separate subscription - it gives you immediate access to everything that is in the print version. If you look at the preview, you’ll see it looks just like the print magazine. We’ve already had some folks who have a print subscription order the digital edition.

We’re charging the same price because we feel our digital edition provides real value for our readers. Also, just as there are printing and mailing costs, there are costs for us in putting the magazine online - on the technical, admin and customer service sides.

    Hope this answers your questions!

  3. will people be able to get digital versions of back issues?
