One of the best parts of watching sports on TV is the theme music. Who doesn’t immediately think of football when they hear the opening chords of the Monday Night Football theme? We’ve picked seven classic sports themes- can you identify them?

Take the quiz.

  1. i think that’s the first 100% i’ve gotten on a quiz i didn’t create. niiiiice. (it should be noted, however, that i’ve also scored less than 100% on quizzes i’ve created.)

  2. 5/7 (I switched NBA on NBC and NCAA March Madness on CBS, mainly because I never watch basketball)

In curiosity, I was looking at the names of the sound clips (www.mentalfloss.com/music/Sports/soundbite1.mp3, for example), and I noticed that soundbite7.mp3 had been left out. I listened to it, and I can’t figure out for the life of me what it is. What is it, and why did you leave it out of the quiz?

  3. I got 10/10. Got really lucky cause I knew all of the Football themes, I’ve been listening to John Williams recently (Olympics), and I hear the baseball theme from my husband baseball on-demand all day. the fact that classy music sounds like something golf would have. Basketball is something I was poundering for a min’ till i remembered the March Madness theme during my husband watching March Madness on-demand all day and night for that month.
