Did anyone else notice that the newspaper article attached to the Weyman/Weinberg description listed one of his aliass as “Lt. St. Cyr”, while Demara imperstonated a “Dr. Joseph Cyr”? Coincidence, homage, or editing oversight?

I think that the sailor that translated Princess Caraboo’s story was in on it with Princess Caraboo.

As I read that part, I was expecting to find out shortly that the sailor was her boyfriend or some other person in on the scheme.

How could it be otherwise?!?!

well, that’s sort of cool that they actually found the ACTUAL anastasia and can finally put to rest all the crazy conspracy theories- but it kind of takes a little bit of the fun out it, doesn’t it. lol

For the record, despite the many illegalities of many of Frank Abagnale’s acts, at the time, practicing law in Louisiana without a law degree and having only passed the state bar, was legal. Currently in Louisiana, you must have attended an ABA accredited law school to take the bar.

Shasta, in many respects it sounds indicative of plain old psychopathy, especially in the more dangerous or consequential situations (impersonating a doctor or diplomat).

Just curious. Is there a psychological term for this kind of delusion? Obviously it’s more involved than some hobo claiming to be Jesus. The people in this article were all very intelligent to be able to pull off these stories for so long.
