It’s fairly easy to guess the most populated city in any given state. But how about the runner-up? We’ve given you four options. Can you tell which is each state’s second most populated city?

Note: All population statistics are based on the United States Census Bureau’s 2006 estimates and relate only to the city population- not surrounding metropolitan areas.

  1. 11/15… lot of guessing.

Sadly enough, on multiple ones my response to the largest population one was “… really?” so even that quiz would be tough for me

  2. 6/15 but I’m evidently a freaking genius on picking the 3rd most populous city.

  3. I did fairly well.

But come on, some of those cities are so close in numbers that there is no statistical difference.

  4. Really interesting quiz. I was surprised by many of those. I did very poorly.

  5. Can we please have the quizzes open in a new window, so when we’re done we don’t have to navigate back to _floss central? Thanks.

  6. Nothing like missing the questions about your own state…. I’m also really good at picking #3.

  7. I live in Salem, OR and have to disagree that it is the second largest in OR, and Wikipedia says Eugene is bigger. Maybe the difference is based on whether school is in.
