Dearest Noah,

Yes, you are pedantic, as well as mentally retarded. I use the word retarded because you have an obvious mental handicap which causes you to belittle editors and bloggers to salvage your own damaged self esteem. I hope you enjoyed your momentary flush of endorphins after posting your empty rant.

Unfortunately, the MF editors don't remove tactless, self-indulgent comments made by retards, which add nothing to the article.

Also, it's called soccer because it was shortened from 'Association Football' - WHICH THE ARTICLE CLEARLY STATES. Do you actually quote from articles you just read, then pretend the information exists only in your personal vault of knowledge with an undeserved tone of 'in-your-face'??

I thought the article was lovely; informative and fun. I decided to flush my own endorphins after some whining pissant showed no appreciation for the base values of modern civilization. The freedom to express our opinions is necessary, however the voice of many humans is as thoughtless as it is mental retardant.

Does Mental Floss have an editor?

"I’ve been doing quite a bit of screaming the past few weeks—especially on Tuesday, after Germany defeated Turkey for a place in the Euro Cup finals against Spain on Sunday.

Not to be pedantic, but the game was wednesday. Plus the fact that 2nd half of the game was blacked out might have been problematic.

Also, it's called soccer because its short for 'Association Football', and was originally shortened to assoc, or soc, then soccer.

Sounds like a better game when heads were literally rolling. At least something happened every now and then, unlike the current 1-nil snoozefests.

I always wondered about that soccer-football name issue. but that story doesn't explain why the term crossed the pond. I also had no idea that rugby was derived from soccer/football. It kinda makes sense with what little I know of rugby.
