Having to listen to both ends of a phone call because people are too lazy walk over and talk in person. Come on now, she’s only 2 rows away–there is no need to call her on the phone.

Seeing others not pulling their weight, with all the variations on that theme is by far my number one. Needing to “look busy” was always an aggravating part of military life. In fact, being judged by minute variations in how you “look” in general and especially your expression when given information or orders was always something to be self-aware of/ The Damned if you do, damned if you don’t result from either a lack of good policy beforehand, or manager reaction after the fact is something I’ve heard others complain about frequently.

I totally agree w/ #1 and 2. I’d like to add managers that know less than the people they supervise.

Ug… the nail clipper problem plagues me everywhere I go. Most of the time, people seem to do it while going to the bathroom. Every time I go into a stall, there are fingernails scattered all over the place like little fallen moons.

Anyone without really walls and a door should be banned from owning a speaker phone, too. I used to sit next to a woman who hated holding the phone, so she made all of her calls with the speaker… she would talk to her daughter after school, talk to friends about last night’s episode of whatever, chastise employees who she felt were not performing well, etc. She also had some twisted notion that leopard-print spandex pants and a women’s sport jacket look fabulous together.

When I first came to my current job I had the co-worker from hell: She was on personal calls all day or talking sh** with another co-worker. She snacked all day long and chewed with mouth open. Then she got into lollipops – it sounded obscene. She always came in late and spent the first hour or so away from her desk; I guess I should have been grateful!
She kissed the boss’s ass big time and got away with everything.
I finally got out of that department and have a good boss now.
I work when there’s work. I don’t care what anyone else does as long as it doesn’t disturb me.

Mine has to be the loud personal phone calls. A coworker of mine is constantly on the phone with her husband who is completely useless and needs her to tell him where things are and make his appointments. He doesn’t work. If I hear the word “Sweetie”- her pet name for him, one more time I think I might explode.

my biggest pet peeve is people who take over my desk while i am at lunch or on a break and play on my computer and refuse to leave when i return. leave my desk alone please!
