My mom always told me NEVER SCRATCH AN ITCH BECAUSE IT WILL ONLY MAKE IT WORSE. I think I´ll listen to her from now on…

Thanks for the link to the New Yorker article. Very interesting, however I found the parts regarding brain perception and resetting phantom limb pain with false visual input even more fascinating. Thanks for sharing.

I suffer from dermatographia, and scratching is about the least pleasurable sensation ever. When I scratch an itch, it swells up and the swollen portion gets itchy too, until the next thing I know, I’ve got a full body itch that is far from pretty. I feel for M, but some nights, I’m not that far away from a similar sensation.
