I think I’m going to call Canada the “United Provinces” and Germany the “United Länders” and so on… it’s amazing that the “United States” somehow has become an appropriate description for a county when it simply means that a collection of states have united together.

USA or America makes far more sense then united states (deliberate lack of capitalization)… we’re Americans who belong to the United States of America. If the rest of the western hemisphere wants to be called Americans, they can petition to join the “United States” of such.

PG’s comments had nothing to do with the term “American” and everything to do with the term “America” as evidenced by this quote from the article.
“Hailed as America’s greatest copper-and-tin representation of freedom”

He/she is in fact using the very same argument most of you have used to flame him/her. The accepted abbreviation of United States of America is “United States” or “USA” and not “America.”

I find it sad that most of you missed this fairly evident distinction. Or, are we supposed to be patriotic about ignorance as well?

Becuase PG chose to fight ignorance with ignorance, does this automatically negate his/her valid point?

Wow, Valerie. No one in this stream claimed they hated (or even mildly disliked) America. In fact, by dissing about half of Americans, you’re the one who’s come closest to that.

On the subject of the actual article, what about hamburgers? Are they actually American, or another German import?

Actually, George Martin did not produce AMERICA’s “Hat Trick.” The relationship between Martin and AMERICA began with the following album, “Holiday.” Martin then went on to produce the next 6 LP’s for them.

The reason “Holiday” got its name was because in anticipation of their working with Martin, the band went into heavy rehearsals, in order to impress the legendary producer. Because of that, the album only took two weeks to finish. This led to Martin quipping, “If I’d known how quickly this would have taken, I’d have just taken a holiday to the states for a couple of weeks” (or something to that effect).

I still feel patriotic about the the flag of the United States of America.

*Hot Dogs are nasty, bad for my heart, and make me fat

*I knew the Liberty Bell was made in London…so that is out a long time ago.
