I was reading the dictionary the other day - yes, I sometimes do that to generate ideas - when I came upon the word “abscond.” For some reason, I noticed that there’s an “A” and “B” at the beginning, a “C” in the middle, and a “D” at the end. Four consecutive letters of the alphabet. I did some digging for similar words, and today’s Brain Game features one of them:
Fill in the four blanks in the following
word with four consecutive letters
of the alphabet to form a word._ U _ I _ _ U S
Wow, I got one.

Nice job, Adrienne!
That’s what we shoot for. Some you get (and feel good about), some you don’t (and learn something). It’s best to have a mixture of the two.

Yay, I love the word ones because I actually have a change of getting them right (all that dictionary perusing coming in handy)! I still try the number ones though, just in case. Keep it up, Sandy!
reCaptcha: Sousa standing–that just sounds awesome. :-D

I got it! yay.
it was interesting to figure out. I got the O first, since “ous” is a common word ending. worked backwards from there.
I’m very pleased with myself. :-]

I always liked the word facetious because it had all the vowels in order…

YAY this is the first one I’ve ever gotten right!

Sandy: I worked this out the same way as jenny. Usually I just cheat and check the answer, especially if it’s a math/number question. Anytime it’s a word or some sort of vocabulary, though, I actually give it a shot.
