In search of the magical penis thieves. Belief in penis theft dates back thousands of years in Asia, but is still a problem in parts of Africa.

  1. That vasectomy story is disgusting! Do these men think it’s just ok to have unprotected sex now that the risk of having a child is removed?? I hope they enjoy their herpes, warts, and, oh yeah, HIV!

    ugh.

  2. I have taken the rails from New York to Florida six times roundtrip. I love it!! The scenery is fantastic. I got to see the Capitol Mall out the window. I also saw the Masonic memorial to Washington. On one trip we had a conductor who told us all about the local history, he was English. In Virginia we passed a stone pyramid erected after a Civil War Battle. The train window is the only way to see this. I am going to go cross country one day. I love the rails, and before I was an old man of 51.

  3. So my husband I took the Amtrak from Indiana to Washington, DC and back last week. We made the mistake (driven by my rail travels in Europe) of assuming that the train would run on time. Oops. Their website reports that route has about a 30% on-time rate. We were 3 hours late on the way there and 2 hours on the way back. We had major train problems both ways (small lounge car fire, stuck dining car door) and the car ahead of us, both times, smelled strongly of dirty diapers. It made us want to avoid walking forward on the train.

If I didn’t have any kind of deadlines in the world and could be guaranteed a diaper-free car, I might consider using it again in the future, but this combination seems unlikely and I don’t think I will. It’s too bad…it seemed so nice to be able to save money and use a little less gas on our trip.

  4. Where was the birthplace of Mental Floss? I see my alma mater Chico State was listed!
