How about Alex Zanardi, who lost both legs in a CART wreck in Germany in 2001? He currently races in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (kind of a European NASCAR). He also finished fourth in the “hand-cycle” division of the New York City Marathon last year.

Janek Mela is easily the most amazing person on this list. Most people after being electrocuted are simply…DEAD.

My best bud, Kyle Maynard, deserves a special mention.

He was born a congenital amputee with no arms and no legs. He’s become a motivational speaker since he hasn’t let his disability stop him from playing a single sport or doing anything.

He’s been on (to name a few) Larry King, HBO, Oprah; won an ESPN Espy, and even modeled for Abercrombie.

Just a month ago, HE drove a couple friends and me up to Washington D.C. (from Georgia) to meet with wounded war soldiers at Walter Reed and to go to a ball to speak. It was one of the most amazing times of my life.
