Nobody checked my ID or anything. I was terrible at it. I finally escaped by stealing the hotel key, hitchhiking back to the hotel, getting my things, taking some money and hitting the road. That way, they didn't suspect anything 'til they came to pick me up from my territory. By the time they got back to the hotel it was too late. Everything said about it in that article is true.
