ANSWER: Edward Carter is raising watercress and cabbage because both his name and his crops are properly typed on a QWERTY keyboard using only the left hand. By contrast, Johnny Millikin has a garden full of onion and pumpkin for the same reason, but with the right hand.

  1. Perhaps Johnny should only raise a single onions and a single pumpkin, as more than one will present a problem: s is (in general) typed with the left hand.

  2. You’re right, mc, I should’ve used the singular version to avoid confusion. I’ve reworded things slightly to fix that. Thanks!

  3. Any chance Edward’s wife is a stewardess? (politically incorrect, I know, as they should be called flight attendants, but then it wouldn’t work, now would it?)

  4. Sure hope Edward’s garden isn’t plagued with weeds.

    Or crabgrass.
