I think those people believe very much in their gods and that they're actions influence what happens to them. I tried to put a non-scientific mind on when you asked that question and I think it might be the fear of the unknown. Two kids coming out looking exactly the same could be terrifying or even the work of a "demon" or their equivalent. Since there's no way to figure out which one is the demon, both have to go. It may be an old tradition but the meaning is lost when dogs come and dig up the bodies. but then maybe i just don't understand, not being from that culture. also why are twins and triplets bad luck/curses/etc in so many cultures?
